Blitz Build Week Was a Huge Success
Thank you to all who participated. We had volunteers on site from the City of Jackson fire and police departments, Michigan State Police, Henry Ford Allegiance, Granger Construction, Grow Jackson, True Community Credit Union, Eaton, Tedders Family Implant and Dentistry, Gerdau, CertainTeed, Jackson Area Association of Realtors, BPW, Jackson Chamber of Commerce, ERA Reardon Realty and individuals from various areas of the community. Along with our regular volunteer construction crew, we had 148 volunteers throughout the week, and we worked approximately 38 hours of the week.
The numbers: 148 volunteers X 38 hours = 5,624 hours of labor to put up 2 houses in 5 days. That’s incredible!!!
A special shout-out to these businesses who donated money, services and/or product specifically for the blitz week:

What is a Blitz Build
A week-long construction event to raise and enclose the first two houses in Greater Jackson Habitat’s DeLand Pointe neighborhood. You will work alongside Habitat staff, volunteers, and contractors to raise the walls and roofs, install siding, and weatherize the homes.
DeLand Pointe will be a 6-house neighborhood located adjacent to the new Jackson YMCA on the corners of W. Franklin Street, S. Mechanic Street, and W. Mason Street.
Each family matched with these homes will have completed HUD-certified financial counseling, completed 300 hours of sweat equity, and established the means to purchase the home.
